Each year, we offer four memorial scholarships in honor of a beloved member of our Homefront community who valued performing arts education and supported it in various ways.
To be eligible for these theater scholarships, the applicant must:
- Be a graduating high school senior
- Have demonstrated a commitment to Homefront Players by participating in two or more productions in the last four years
- Be a student in good standing, eligible for graduation from their current school
- Be pursuing advanced education, not necessarily in the area of Theater Arts
If you plan on postponing your entrance to college, additional requirements may apply.

Megan was an exceptionally bright student who was a senior at UVA, majoring in broadcast journalism when she passed away. She participated in numerous productions at the Beaty Theatre, showcasing her talent in the performing arts. While this memorial scholarship is typically awarded to onstage performers, it is not limited to that, reflecting the broad impact of theater scholarships on students pursuing performing arts education.

Chris was the wife of Col. Bob Rightmyer and a passionate supporter of performing arts education. As a devoted theater enthusiast, she volunteered her time to seek a new theater location, served as a producer and liaison with Post commanders, and assisted in every way she could. This scholarship was established to honor those students who also support the theater through both onstage and offstage efforts, though it extends beyond just theater scholarships.

Bob was always helping behind the scenes, whether it was operating a light or sound board or assisting wherever needed. He served as the theater company’s accountant for many years. After his wife, Chris, passed away, he wanted to honor her memory by continuing her legacy with the Theater Company. This scholarship, a part of our memorial scholarships initiative, was established to recognize students who contribute in a behind-the-scenes capacity within performing arts education. These theater scholarships aim to support and celebrate those who dedicate their efforts to the craft behind the curtain.

Sarah was a true all-around student and performer, deeply involved in various productions where she showcased her talents in dancing, singing, and acting. Eager to learn and excel, she was awarded the Megan Stoker scholarship as a senior in high school. This prestigious scholarship, part of the memorial scholarships recognizing exceptional students, aims to honor those who embody the qualities of good citizenship and enrich their communities, especially in the field of performing arts education. Sarah's dedication made her a standout recipient among her peers, particularly in her commitment to theater scholarships.
